How the lesson plans are designed:

Each download contains a PowerPoint brainstorm and lesson resources, a PDF lesson plan.  Some lessons also have worksheets and planning pages attached.

Before viewing:

Each episode starts with a brainstorm on PowerPoint as a talking point to consider when viewing the episode.

Viewing:

Each episode is approximately 30 minutes long.

Lessons:

Each lesson has an introductory discussion based on the episode before moving into the main activity of the lesson.

The PowerPoint then contains examples of quotes and images useful for the lesson. Planning pages or worksheets are available as PDFs.

The lesson plan includes ideas for extension, along with recommendations for differentiation.

The series is not a substitute for reading the diary and if possible it should be read alongside viewing.

Events in the series do not occur chronologically as key themes from the diary are drawn together to create episodes.

The edition of Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank being referenced in the materials is the Puffin edition (2002) ISBN -13: 978-0-141-31518-8 and can be purchased from the Trust's bookshop.

The education team at The Anne Frank Trust would love to hear about the work your class achieve with these resources as well as feedback and suggestions for future resources.  Please contact us.
