Quote of the month

9th July 1942

It was agreed that we’d go into hiding on 16 July. Because of Margot’s call-up notice, the plan had to be moved forward ten days, which meant we’d have to make do with less orderly rooms.

Anne Frank Awards 2009

June 11th sees the awards ceremony of the prestigious Anne Frank Awards taking place at the House of Commons. The Awards programme serves to celebrate and recognise actions that fit Anne’s own humanitarian message and are given for personal strength, moral courage and making a positive difference to the lives of others.

The 2009 Awards include a special Miep Gies Award presented to a young person in honour of the 100th birthday of Miep Gies who helped the Frank family in hiding. Miep found Anne Franks’ diary in the Annexe after the family had been discovered and kept it safe.

Pictured here are the Award Judges including Journalist Nick Cohen and Writer Deborah Moggach.

Bee Klug MBE, Honorary life president of the Anne Frank Trust, will present this award to winner Nicole Dryburgh, accompanied by Kate Ashfield (who played Miep in the recent BBC drama about the life of Anne Frank) and Julian Brazier MP (MP for the constituency Nicole lives in).

The other Anne Frank Award categories fall into the categories of Educators, Young People and Groups.
