In Anne's own words

"...I long to have a home of our own, to be able to move around freely and have someone help me with my homework again, at last. In other words, to go back to school!"

Anne Frank: Dialogue for Cohesion

The Anne Frank: Dialogue for Cohesion was launched on 27th January 2009, Holocaust Memorial Day at Spennymoor Town Hall in County Durham.

The North East is an area we've targeting specifically bacause:

  • Numerous communities in the region remain deeply segregated on racial and religious lines.

  •  Parts of the North East attract very high levels of support for far right political groups. In several communities this directly relates to a rising level of threat to minority communities in the area.

  •  Across the regions, teachers and other locally based professionals have told us that more extensive resources are desperately required to counter growing divisions between communities.

Central to this programme was the commissioning and funding towards a permanent Anne Frank travelling exhibition to be housed specifically in the North East of England. The Anne Frank Trust are delighted that this new exhibition has been commissioned by the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Public Commercial Union (PCS) and a rainbow alliance of other Trade Unions.

“The TUC and trade unions campaign against all forms of discrimination and inequality, both at work and in the wider society and community. We are wholly and completely opposed to racism and racial intolerance of any kind and actively challenge racism in all its forms. The TUC is proud to support the Anne Frank Trust in challenging prejudice, reducing hatred and developing respect for others now and in the future.”
