Now our Secret Annexe has truly become secret.... Mr Kugler thought it would be better to have a bookcase built in front of the entrance to our hiding place. It swings out on its hinges and opens like a door.
Anne M Frank
Eastern Region
The Anne Frank Trust has had two successful programmes in the East of England. In 2006-07 we implemented a Human Rights project in Luton and we have recently developed an Equality and Dignity training programme in Cambridge for Addenbrookes Hospital's 8,000 staff.

Our aims of the Anne Frank East programme are:
• To reduce levels of racism and prejudice towards minority children in East of England schools
• To increase understanding of issues related to community cohesion among students, teachers and other professionals in the East of England
• Reduce the appeal of extremist values and ideas amongst young people
• To increase knowledge of the Holocaust as a means of demonstrating the consequences of unchecked racism and prejudice
This regional programme of work aims to develop our educational output into a sustainable programme to build a long lasting relationship with the local communities.
There are many ways in which local councils, communities, organisations, schools, youth and faith groups can get involved in our programmes in the local region. Wherever we work we aspire to make a positive and relevant contribution to the local area. Our regional team based in Cambridge is committed to building long term partnerships and we welcome your support in making change happen!
How can you help?
We plan to develop this programme in areas most of need over the next three years. But we need your help locally to achieve this by supporting us in the following areas:
Above: Exhibition panel developed for Addenbrookes Hospital
1. Become a programme partner - We want the community be at the heart of the activities and are looking to partner with like minded local organisations
2. Get the programme started - Set up a regional steering committee to help attract the resources (funding, venue, people & logistics) to bring an Anne Frank programme, including an exhibition into your area.
3. Spread the word - Speak to your local schools, colleges, universities and youth organisations and local MPs about supporting and working with the Anne Frank Trust.
4. Invite - Ask us about delivering our unique and acclaimed cohesion and equality training programme in your place of work, school, college or organisation.
