Senior Management Team

Gillian Walnes - Executive Director and Co-Founder

Gillian was a co-founder of the Trust in 1990, and has been executive director since then. As well as leading the Trust's development and being the principal spokesperson, Gillian is in charge of internal and external communications with donors, stakeholders and international Anne Frank partners. She runs the flagship exhibition, Anne Frank + You, and has overseen nearly 200 exhibitions up and down the country.

Robert Posner - Chief Operating Officer 

Robert joined the Trust in August 2009 in the newly created job of Chief Operating Officer. Working alongside Gillian, Robert’s role is to build on the 20 years of growth and steer the organisation to its next set of ambitious goals.

Lucy Glennon - Head of Education

Lucy is Head of Education and has worked for the Trust for over five years. She designs and oversees the educational output of the Trust, including the regional projects, Anne Frank Scotland and the Anne Frank Prison Project, and manages the education team. She is a member of the International Anne Frank exhibition steering group.

Lucy is a Fellow in Holocaust Education at the Imperial War Museum and has an MA in Holocaust Studies at UCL. 

Education Team  

Jamie Arden - National Development Manager

Jamie is National Development Manager for the Anne Frank Trust as part of the education team. Jamie joined the Trust in 2006 to develop and manage the London Schools Project. His expanded role now involves the planning and development of the Trust’s regional educational programmes across the UK.

Jamie's background is in the arts sector, originally as an actor and then as a Theatre Director and Company Manager. He has a BA degree in Theatre Performance and is a specialist drama teacher. Along with his colleague Lucy, Jamie is a Fellow in Holocaust Education at the Imperial War Museum.

Mukith Khalisadar - London Regional Manager

Mukith joined the Trust in July 2006 from the Prince’s Trust. He runs the London Schools Project.

Mukith’s time is devoted to securing and developing educational projects; training and leading all creative workshops in London and has a strong involvement in the new Anne Frank Ambassadors programme.

Mukith has recently started a BA degree in ‘Informal Education and Community'. 

Elizabeth Andrews - Project Officer

Elizabeth joined the Anne Frank Trust UK in January 2007. She is a project officer within the education team, managing the Anne Frank Ambassadors programme. She also runs the Trust’s online bookshop and online schools' competitions.

Elizabeth is originally from Seattle and joined as a volunteer intern in 2006 while studying for a Masters at Goldsmiths, London.

Val Ross - Eastern Regional Manager

Val's role with the Anne Frank Trust UK is primarily to take forward the CUH (Cambridge University Hospitals’) project through the development of training resources and the upskilling of the in-house facilitation team. 
 
Val has worked in the public, voluntary and commercial sectors as a trainer, teacher and researcher.  Most recently Val spent six years working in a large general FE college where she had responsbility latterly for the development of citizenship opportunities/resources and lectured on a range of courses. Val is currently studying towards an MA in Pastoral Theology.

Tali Padan - North East Project Officer

Tali joined the Trust in April 2010,  helping kickstart the Anne Frank Community Cohesion Festival in Northumberland.  Tali's background is in educational technology and has previously worked teaching young people digital media skills.  She has recently completed an MA in Intercultural Conflict Management.

Tali is originally from Israel, but lived mostly in the US and now calls Newcastle home.

Ilana Winterstein - London Project Coordinator

Ilana joined the Trust in April 2010 as Project Coordinator for Take A Stand, London. Her work centres on engaging young volunteers in creating community based festivals to challenge racism and prejudice throughout London.

Ilana’s background is in Performing Arts. She has a Degree in English Literature and a Masters Degree in Performing from the Central School of Speech and Drama.

Adam Kirkby - North West Project Coordinator
 
Adam joined the Trust in April 2010 as Project Coordinator for the Take A Stand project, Burnley. His work centres on engaging young volunteers in creating community-based festivals to challenge racism and prejudice throughout East Lancashire.

After graduating from the University of Manchester, Adam taught English as a foreign language for a year in Japan. Before joining the Trust he also worked for Cancer Research UK co-ordinating volunteers.

 Prison Project Team

Steve Gadd - Prison Project Manager 

Prison Project manager Steve Gadd joined the Anne Frank Trust in 2004. He manages and delivers the Anne Frank Prison Project which has developed over the past five years. Steve has taken the Anne Frank exhibition to all categories of prison from high security to open prisons and young offenders’ institutions, both male and female. The project has received acclaim from its customers and other professional bodies in the prison sector.

Anne Frank Scotland

Heather Boyce - Anne Frank Scotland Manager

Heather became Anne Frank Scotland Manager for in 2008. Her work centres around the placement of Anne Frank: A History for Today in schools and community venues and the development of accompanying programmes of work.  She is supported by a team of freelance educators and her intern Kirsty.  Heather is a former teacher and has a degree in Theology and Religious Studies.

Since 2006 Heather has been a member of the Falkirk Children's Panel which is part of the legal and welfare system in Scotland and aims to combine justice and welfare for children and young people.

Paula Fraser - Anne Frank Scotland Freelance Educator

Paula began working as an Educator for Anne Frank Scotland in August 2008.  She supports the project by delivering guide training and tours of the exhibition Anne Frank: A History for Today in venues throughout Scotland.  Another focus of Paula's role is the facilitation of workshops with young people focused on the Holocaust, human rights and prejudice which she finds very rewarding.

Paula is a former R.E. teacher and has an M.A. Hons 2.1 in Philosophy from Glasgow University.  She works part time as an holistic massage therapist and is planning to start an MSc in Psychological Studies in the autumn. 

 Office and Logistical Team

Marsha Selwyn - Office Manager 

Marsha joined the Anne Frank Trust in February 2003. Her main role is running the function of the London office, but she is also responsible for financial processing, assisting with fundraising and promotional events, HR and administering the exhibition’s travelling bookshop.

Before joining the Trust Marsha was managing director and general manager of an independent London health club and is a qualified massage therapist and reflexologist. She lives in Hertfordshire with her husband who is a social photographer.

Imogen Topliss - Marketing & Communications Executive

Imogen has been with the Trust since December 2007. Her role focuses on organising and assisting with the events, marketing and public relations of the Trust.

Imogen enjoys travelling and spent six months in India and South East Asia after graduating from University with a degree in History.

Doug Palfreeman - Exhibitions Manager

Doug came to the Trust in 2003 as Project Manager for the then new exhibition ‘Anne Frank + You.’ Since then his role has diversified to include all aspects of exhibition supervision, ranging from liaising with venue personnel to exhibition and project development.

Doug has managed and produced events in the UK and other countries and was instrumental in relocating the famous Marquee Club in Central London to a purpose-built building in Islington.

Michele Murphy - Book keeper

Michele has worked at the Trust since 2006 as the bookkeeper. She is responsible for the production of the management accounts alongside the senior management team and helps to ensure a smooth running of the Trust’s finances.

Michele is a self-employed book-keeper with four other clients, one of which is also a charity (Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church, Wanstead).

Volunteers & Interns

 
Lynn Winton - Volunteer PR Advisor, Chair of Fundraising Events Committee

Lynn Winton has advised the Trust on press and media relations since replying to an appeal for volunteers through the Jewish Volunteering Network in 2008. She works primarily with Gillian and Imogen to develop the public image of the Trust.She works occasionally in the office, particularly in the lead-up to major events. 

Lynn’s background is as a freelance public relations professional.       

Kirsty Roger - Exhibition and Research Intern
 
Kirsty has been with Anne Frank Scotland since September 2009 where she works alongside Heather in organising the placement of exhibitions. In addition, she is researching material to be used in conjunction with the exhibition to provide pupils with more depth of understanding.
    
She is a recent MA Honours History graduate of the University of Edinburgh. Kirsty works part-time at an Antiques and Arts Centre and spends some of her free time as a warranted Leader of a Guide Unit.
 

Oliver Henderson Smith – Library Intern

Oliver joined the Trust in June 2010 to develop and organise an educational resource library at the Trust’s offices in Kentish Town. His work involves cataloguing the Trust’s current book-stock and expanding this collection, with the aim of establishing a unique library of Anne Frank literature and resources that deal with issues related to human rights, discrimination and the holocaust.

Oliver graduated with MA Divinity from the University of Edinburgh in July 2009, and will become a Library Graduate Trainee in 2010.
