In Anne's own words
"...I long to have a home of our own, to be able to move around freely and have someone help me with my homework again, at last. In other words, to go back to school!"

What are people saying about the Anne Frank Prison project?
Key findings from our evaluations are that:
· 59% of participants had either never heard of Anne Frank or had heard of her but knew very little about her before taking part in our projects.
· 91% of participants thought the exhibition increased their understanding of the history of the Holocaust and it’s significance today.
· 85% of participants believe that Anne Frank's story has made them much more likely or more likely to challenge prejudice than they would have been before they took part in the project
· 71% of participants felt that the programme had showed them what they can do to challenge prejudice & reduce hatred in their community
· Prison staff at many institutions have fed back to us that following the programme, higher numbers of inmates have requested to participate with staff in other events to promote diversity issues and cohesion within the prison
· 84% rated our programmes as excellent or good. This statistic backs up the consistently positive written and verbal feedback we receive from inmates and staff. The following are brief quotes from letters we have received:
'What we have noticed is that more and more prisoners are requesting to participate with staff in all types of events to create awareness and the general promotion of Diversity issues, eg., Black History Month, Diversity Week, Disability Awareness etc..Prisoners have a renewed vigor and sense of empowerment as they are allowed to be a part of some of our consultation work which has not happened at Pentonville in years gone by.' Head of Diversity, HMP Pentonville
“It has been good to see the lads taking on board what they are actually watching and it has really promoted discussion. There has been nothing negative and it has given them food for thought. This programme gives them a greater sense of awareness of what went on historically and gets them to examine their own lives and of those others around them. Things like ethnic cleansing and racism are very much current issues.” Head of Behaviour Management, HMP Elmley
“The exhibition was well presented and the guidance and help from the Anne Frank Trust was excellent – I would have no qualms in recommending the exhibition to other prisons. It is still being talked about here!” Chaplain Governor, HMP Highdown
‘Meeting Eva Schloss was amazing. I can’t believe the things that she went through. She talked so well to our group and we were privileged that she came to our prison.’ Inmate, HMP Guys Marsh
‘The exhibition made all of us think about the choices we make in life. I knew nothing about the Holocaust before the exhibition came to the prison and now think that every prisoner should learn about Anne Frank and this subject.’ Inmate, HMP Woodhill
