Quote of the month

Wednesday 23 February 1944

As long as this exists,’ I thought, ‘this sunshine and this cloudless sky, and as long as I can enjoy it, how can I be sad?’

The best remedy for those who are frightened, lonely or unhappy is to go outside...only then can you feel that everything is as it should be and that God wants people to be happy amid nature’s beauty and simplicity.

'I believe that the launch in Scotland of the Anne Frank educational programme will provide an opportunity for school children not just to learn about the horror of the Holocaust, but to gain an appreciation of the importance of understanding, tolerance and the need to reduce hatred in modern, outward-looking Scotland'.

John Park MSP for Mid-Scotland and Fife addressing the Scottish Parliament in June 2008

2008 saw the launch of Anne Frank Scotland with the appointment of Heather Boyce as Programme Manager for Scotland and the opening of a permanent office in Falkirk.

With grant funding from the Barcapel Foundation, we are now working on a important number of projects, principally in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Fife. These are taking place in partnership with:

-         Celtic Football Club

-         Strathclyde Police

-         Glasgow City Library Service

-         Renfrewshire Council

-         Fife Council

-         Schools and Communities across central Scotland

Interested in taking part?

If you are a teacher or youth worker based in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Fife or surrounding areas and would like your school/youth group to take part in the project, please contact us at education@annefrank.org.uk

'The exhibition was a tremendous success for the school and I would like to thank The Anne Frank Trust for this opportunity as I strongly believe we all gained a great deal from it. Pupils not only gained considerable knowledge of the Anne Frank story, but also gained in personal/social skills. The project coincided with parents’ evenings which allowed us to open the event to the parent community who attended in force. Parents spoke very positively of the experience and thought the guides had done an amazing job'
