Daniel Mendoza, Chair

Daniel became a Trustee in 2003 and is a director of Ereira Mendoza, a commercial property consultancy. Daniel has 20 years experience in the business arena and aside of his property expertise he has depth of knowledge in the importance of delivering integrity and brand awareness within marketing.

He is fiercely passionate about the importance of effecting attitudinal and behavioural shifts and the long term positive impact this will have on society as a whole.

Lynne Berry OBE, Vice Chair

Lynne joined as a Trustee in Summer 2010 and has a background working in the charity sector.  Lynne is the Chief Executive of WRVS (Women's Royal Voluntary Service) and held Chief Excecutive positions for the General Social Care Council, the Equal Opportunities Commission the Charity Commission and the Family Welfare Association.

Her earlier career has spanned central and local government, higher education, community development and social work. She was responsible for work on complaints procedures for users of social services both as a member of the Social Services Inspectorate and at the National Institute for Social Work.

Her services to the social care sector were recognised by being awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday honours list in 2006.

Zak Mockton, Treasurer

Zak was appointed as a Trustee and Treasurer in June 2003. He was Finance Director of Penspen Ltd, an international firm of oil and gas consulting engineers, for the last 7 years, prior to which he was a business analyst engaged on privatisation projects for London Buses Ltd and HMSO.

He graduated in Law from Manchester University in 1986, having served as General Secretary of Manchester University Students’ Union as well as Political Affairs Officer (with specific anti-racism brief) for the National Union of Jewish Students.

Adam Leigh

Adam is Chief Executive of The Communications Agency. His career started at Ogilvy & Mather in 1987 as a Graduate Trainee where he was made the youngest Account Director in the agency less than three years later. In 1994 he became New Business and Marketing Director for the agency. During that time he was named a "Face to watch" by Campaign magazine.

In 1996 he joined Bates UK as a Board Director to oversee the £35m integrated Safeway account. In 1998 he was made Deputy Managing Director. Adam joined Euro RSCG in 2000, shortly afterwards becoming Managing Director.

Despite an advertising background Adam has always believed in the power of genuine integration and has worked across all communication disciplines on a host of significant accounts including most recently, Halifax, Abbey National and Argos.

Dr Eva Schloss

Eva is a survivor of Auschwitz. She is closely connected to Anne, her diary and Otto Frank, who became her stepfather after the War. She has published two books, “Eva’s Story” and "The Promise" - a book for younger children - about her experiences. She does much work in Holocaust education, mainly in schools in this country and in the USA, and has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Civil Law in connection with that work. She was a founder of the Trust. 

Frances White

Frances became a Trustee in June 2010 and has substantial experience in the education sector. Frances' experience is predominantly within Further Education, having been Vice-Principal for Westminster Kingsway College in London, working as a senior advisor for Shropshire County council, consultant for Further Education Funding for Wales and as Her Majesty's Inspector - leading inspections in pre-school to adult and community learning.

Frances has a First Class degree in French and German from Universtity of Birmingham and University of Mainz, Germany as well as a Diploma in Industrial Administration from University of Bath and a Graduate certificate in Education from University of Leeds.

Peter Oppenheimer

Peter is head of Portfolio Strategy, European strategy for Goldman Sachs. He serves on the European Investment Review committee and the Global Investment Committee. He joined Goldman Sachs in 2002 and became a managing director in 2003. Prior to joining the firm, Peter worked as Managing Director and Chief Investment Strategist at HSBC and was previously Head of European Strategy at James Capel. Prior to that, he was Chief Economic Strategist at Hambors Bank.

He serves on the fundraising committee of the Anna Freud Centre in London, a leading centre for psychoanalytic child psychotherapy.

Peter earned a BSc, first class, in Economics from The London School of Economics in 1985.

Russ Kane

Russ is the Chief Barker and Trustee of The Variety Club of Great Britain, known globally as ‘The Greatest Children’s Charity in The World’.

Russ was the 'Flying Eye' from London's Capital Radio for 20 years giving Londoners and now braodcasts for Radio 5 Live. He also is CEO of Russell-Alexander Associates, a marketing consultancy working in Internal & external communication, strategy, and speechwriting for Government Departments and the Corporate sector.

Russ has won fifteen major national and international awards for his scriptwriting including the prestigious ‘Gold Medal for Distinction’ at the New York Film and Television. His autobiography ‘Shout At The Moon’ was published in 2001.

Dr Theo Gavrielides

Dr. Theo Gavrielides became a Trustee in June 2010. Theo founded and is the Director of the youth-led social policy think-tank Independent Academic Research Studies, he is also a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at Open University and a Visiting Scholar at Mount Royal University (Canada).

Theo obtained a doctorate in law from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Masters in Human Rights Law from Nottingham University.

Theo has previously worked for think-tank Race on the Agenda, the Ministry of Justice and was involved in developing the Ministry's Education, Information and Advice strategy. During 2002-2004, he worked as a researcher at the Centre for the Study of Human Rights of the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is also a legal counsel specialising in criminal law, human rights and EU law.

Theo has been published extensively in academic journals while his book “Restorative Justice theory and practice” has been published by the European Institute for Crime Prevention and Control affiliated with the United Nations (HEUNI) and Criminal Justice Press.
