The Search

The Search by Eric Heuvel, Rudd van der Rol, Lies Schippers and the Anne Frank House

The reader follows Esther as she returns to the farm where she hid during the Nazi reign hoping to find the people who helped her and discover the story of her parents.

This story is told in a comic book style of Tin Tin and has proven to be quite interesting for boys.  It is a continuation of A Family Secret which deals with the same families from two different perspectives. They compliment each other, The Search looks at a Jewish family on the run from the Nazis while A Family Secret shows how a non-Jewish Dutch family was involved in the war.

While concentrating on one family's story, this book covers quite a bit of the history of the Holocaust, explaining how events occurred and why. The style in which it is written helps the young reader understand the time period and the Holocaust without going into too much graphic detail.
