Daniel Mendoza OBE

We are absolutely delighted that Daniel Mendoza, our chair of trustees has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. The announcement has been made today, exactly 92 years since the birth of Anne Frank on 12 June 1929.

The citation states that the honour is “for services to education in challenging prejudice and discrimination”. Daniel has been an Anne Frank trustee since 2003 and chair since 2011. Under his leadership the charity’s annual income has grown by 79% and the number of young people we reach has risen by 145%. During Daniel’s tenure, we have empowered over 70,000 young people to recognise and challenge prejudice, raised over £11 million of funding, and become a national trailblazer in robustly researched evidence of impact.

Daniel says:

“To me the biggest priority facing the world today is how we can learn to live together with all our differences. That’s what the Anne Frank Trust helps achieve, and that’s why I love this charity so much. So I feel truly grateful and humbled to have been honoured for doing what I love. The honour really belongs to the whole Anne Frank team – to our fantastic trustees, staff and supporters, and above all to our young people.”
