As you know, on July 6th 1942, Anne Frank went into hiding in a secret annex behind Otto Frank’s business. This was also when Hitler was in charge‐ which was all the way back in 1942 which really shows the lack of growth we have had in the area of discrimination and Black Lives Matter, and this has been massively been brought to light since the recent George Floyd incident. Now, thousands of protestors are fighting for BLM and hundreds of them are getting shot with rubber bullets, tear gas, police men driving into large

crowds, arrests of reporters and peaceful protestors and so much more. If we are going to survive peacefully in lockdown, we need equality, kindness and love. Innocent black people have been killed, including George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Atatiana Jefferson, Stephon Clark, Olwatoyin Salau and countless others. Also including black trans lives such as Riah Milton and Dominique. Thousands of people have been protesting for the last few weeks which shows that we all want respect and equality for black lives, and racism should be stopped. As Anne Frank once wrote “I know what I want, I have a goal, an opinion, I have religion and love. Let me be myself and then I am satisfied. I know that I’m a woman, a woman with inward strength and plenty of courage.” This quote shows that everyone has their opinions, beliefs, goals, and love no matter what. We are all human beings and we all deserve to be treated with equality. As you know, Anne Frank went into hiding to avoid prosecution and the Nazis in World War 2, all because of her religion‐ which like Anne Frank was, people are still discriminated for their religion. Now, in 2020, everyone is in lockdown due to the current Corona Virus outbreak, and racism and discrimination is STILL happening. How are we supposed to sit in quarantine peacefully, while innocent people are being killed by police, the people supposed to protect us, doing the opposite. Fear and hatred is being spread instead of love and

respect, while we are being told to stay inside peacefully and patiently. How is this possible, when people are being murdered because of their beliefs, because of their race, because of how they are born, because of what they cannot help. This hardly leaves us peaceful and has thousands of furious protesters fighting for what is right at risk of illness, including hundreds of influencers and family of those killed, family of those who are dealing with injustice because of other people’s opinions. These recent events show how important it is that we self‐isolate with kindness, because now we have thousands at potential risk of the corona virus protesting BLM and unfair treatment being spread. Anne Frank said “It’s difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. It’s a wonder I haven’t abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.” I think this beautiful quote really applies to today and our decade, and in order to get through this we all have to work together, understand each other and love each other.
