Case Study: Joshua - From Silence to Strength Meet JoshuaJoshua, who attends Abbey Grange Academy, wanted to become an Anne Frank Ambassador to challenge prejudice, including homophobia, antisemitism, and racism. He joined the Anne Frank Trust because he wanted to stand up for those discriminated against for being different. “I wanted to become an Anne Frank Ambassador to challenge the bad things happening in the world and inspire others to stand up against prejudice. Being an Ambassador has made me more confident and helped me to speak out, whether that’s standing up for a Year 7 student being bullied at school or educating people about the harm caused by discrimination. Through the Trust, I’ve had life-changing experiences, like visiting the Anne Frank House and meeting Holocaust survivors. In Ambleside, I wrote a poem about the healing power of nature for the Windermere Children and how damaging prejudice can be. The sessions and workshops have taught me that innocent people suffer because of hatred, and we must all speak out against injustices. Before becoming an Ambassador, I might have stayed quiet. Now, I know I can make a difference. The Windermere trip showed me how strongly I feel about people being free to be themselves without judgment. Being part of the Anne Frank Trust has connected me with like-minded friends and given me the confidence to believe that even small actions can create change. It’s inspired me to keep challenging prejudice and make a difference in the future. ” Whispers of Windermere by Joshua In nature’s embrace where waters gleamEchoes of a lost story blast outThe Windermere boys with spirits brightFound solitude in the lakeside beauty From shadows deep of suffering and lossThey rose anew full of mightFrom horrors past they journeyed fromTo a world of beauty beneath the same stars With every splash and free laughterSouls slowly mending reclaiming and rebuilding their livesHealing through time with the past not forgotten but slowly fadingTheir souls finding peace from all the suffering So let us honour with words of graceThe strength they found through timeIn nature’s cradle their legacyA testament to resilience and unity Your Support Can Empower More Young People Like Joshua With your help, we can continue to mentor and inspire young leaders through our Ambassador Programme: £1,400 supports one Ambassador for a year £6,000 delivers our Voices for Equality programme to three schools £15,000 funds 165 anti-prejudice workshops Every donor receives a limited-edition Anne Frank Trust pin badge as a thank you. 👉 Donate today and help us build a generation that stands up to hate:https://www.annefrank.org.uk/change-starts-now Manage Cookie Preferences
