"Now our Secret Annexe has truly become secret. Because so many houses are being searched for hidden bicycles, Mr Kugler thought it would be better to have a bookcase built in front of the entrance to our hiding place. It swings out on its hinges and opens like a door. Mr Voskuijl did the carpentry work"

Upcoming event: Ambassadors' showcase

Join us online to see the creative excellence of our Anne Frank Ambassadors

We warmly invite you to join us at 6.30pm on Wednesday 13th September for our Ambassador Summer Residential Showcase.

Learning from the Holocaust and calling for an end to prejudice, young Anne Frank Ambassadors will present their writing from our two residential summer study trips – one at Windermere with the Lake District Holocaust Project, one in Yorkshire with the Arvon Foundation. We will also welcome Lady Elaine Sacks as a special guest, to share her thoughts and encouragement with our Ambassadors

Taking place online, this is a wonderful opportunity to see the creative writing talents of our young Ambassadors.

RSVP [email protected] or 020 7284 5858.

Huge thanks to our funders and partners for both trips, especially to the Tagliaferri family for sponsoring the Yorkshire week.

Summer residential study trips

This summer two groups of Anne Frank Ambassadors have been in Cumbria and Yorkshire for unique residential learning trips

Young people gathered to deepen their understanding of the Holocaust, and explore Anne Frank's belief in the power of nature and how they could use this to challenge prejudice.

In Cumbria, Ambassadors looked at the story of the Windermere children, meeting with author Tom Palmer and learning from his book After the War.  They also had the opportunity to visit the Lake District Holocaust Project and hear from one of the Windermere Boys, Harry Olmer. They then explored the power of creative writing through the work of Dorothy and William Wordsworth in a workshop with poet Clare Shaw.

This week another group of Ambassadors are with the prestigious Arvon Foundation in Yorkshire for an intensive creative writing trip, working with poet Jasmine Gardosi and author Jacob RossThey'll be having individual tutor sessions as well as hearing from guest poet, Gemma Seltzer before sharing their own work. We are very pleased to be able to offer such a high quality learning opportunity for our Ambassadors.

Once again a huge thanks goes to our funders and partners for both trips, especially to the Tagliaferri family for sponsoring the trip to Yorkshire.

Ambassadors visit National Holocaust Centre

As part of our summer enrichment work, young people on our Anne Frank Ambassador programme are taking part in a series of days out to enhance their learning, especially around the Holocaust, spend time together and do something a little different.

A fantastic range of age-appropriate enrichment activities and workshops have been planned across the summer, the first of which was a visit to the National Holocaust Centre & Museum in Nottinghamshire.

A group of Anne Frank Ambassadors visited ‘The Journey’ exhibition – a series of rooms each representing a time period in Nazi Germany, they also visited the memorial gardens to spend time reflecting and where they placed a stone of remembrance, before visiting the Memorial Hall.

More trips are planned across the summer to include visits to the Imperial War Museum, the Holocaust Centre North and the Jewish Museum in Manchester.

Recent funding success

We are delighted to have secured funding from the Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation, a long term supporter of our work.

Brown Rudnick have once again provided funding to our Anne Frank Ambassadors programme. This will see young people from London take part in the intensive, long-term programme which provides mentoring, skills sessions and group learning to young people most in need of support. It will allow young people to fulfil their potential, grow their skills and stand up to prejudice.

This funding will also contribute to a visit for young people to travel to Anne Frank’s House in Amsterdam later in the year. Our huge thanks to everyone at Brown Rudnick for supporting young people to speak out against prejudice.
